Lensa Mir merupakan copy dari Lensa Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon buatan KMZ Rusia. Meskipun ini merupakan copy dari CZ Flektogon, namun terdapat beberapa perubahan yang dilakukan oleh para insinyur Rusia, sehingga untuk beberapa orang menggangap Lensa Mir lebih bagus ketimbang lensa aslinya (CZ Flektogon). Lensa ini kemudian mendapatkan penghargaan di Brussel World Fair sebagai bentuk penghargaan atas kualitas lensa ini, Namun demikian lensa terdapat juga beberapa pihak yang berpendapat sebaliknya tentang lensa ini.

"Image quality is great. The lens produces very snappy colors with great contrast. Wide open its sharpness is acceptable on but 5.6 and onward Mir becomes tack sharp. Bokeh is a little harsh in the highlights but it is a least of concern. Chromatic aberrations are very low to none but the lens easy catches flares so hood usage is recommended. As Flektogon derivate there is no distortion. The lens is ideal for shooting architecture. Mir is a great performer as a macro lens with extension tubes."

"I have both the Flek 35mm and the Mir-1B 37mm f2.8. They are both excellent lenses and well worth having. The Flek (which is a good one) slightly edges it on colours (the Mir still has very nice colours), better bokeh (Zeiss bokeh is some of the best around), but they are both quite sharp."
